The Pamplona Bull Ring, opened in 1922 and internationally known for the San Fermín festivity bull runs, now offers us a unique opportunity: for the first time we can step inside and get to know the workings of the fiesta and the excitement that is felt each year in this bull ring from 6th to 14th July. It can be discovered either with a guided tour or independently with an audio guide.
The route starts at the end of Callejón, at the entrance to the ring. A documentary projected onto three walls will draw you closer with images and audio accompanying the exciting moments before the bull run: assembling the barriers, washing the streets, singing to the Saint and other rituals, ending with the tension of the bull run and the entrance of the mozos and bulls into the bull ring.
The next stop is the ruedo, from where the grandiosity of the empty ring is sure to impress you. You will get to know its history, construction and expansion, right up to the current building which has a capacity for 20,000 spectators, making it the fourth largest bull ring in the world.
The visit continues to the pens. Here you will step inside the intimate territory of the bull. A video will reveal its birth, its life in the pasture and later transformation into a bull.
In the next room you will see another projection about the everyday life of the people that work in the bull ring, and the moments that make up a bull fight; all supported with informative panels and even with the presence of a life-sized stuffed Jandilla bull, Coquinero.
On the Patio de Caballos you will reach the Chapel, "the place of silence and fear", where the bull fighters gather before stepping out into the arena.
And once again you will get the chance to capture the moment of your visit next to another stuffed bull, this time from the Miura livestock, Agujeta.
An interesting visit that will reveal part of the soul of the city of Pamplona.
