Museo Carlismo
Estella-Lizarra lives up to its title of 'capital of Carlism' with this monographic museum dedicated to all the aspects related to one of the most important episodes of the 19th century in Navarre. Paintings, uniforms, coins, photographs, documents and material of great historical value help the visitor to learn about the history of Carlism from its birth up to 1939.

The items on display occupy the Governor's Palace located in the old quarter of the town, located on the Pilgrim's Way to Santiago. It is an emblematic 17th-century building whose keystone and brick façade is designed according to strict criteria of symmetry and classicistic simplicity.

The Museum will shortly be home to a study centre on this political movement, so closely linked to Navarre.

Layout:
. First floor: home to the permanent exhibition, with a collection of works and objects that summarise the history of Carlism until 1939. Among the most notable works are a portrait of the Carlist pretender Carlos V (Carlos María Isidro de Borbón) by Vicente López. Other curiosities on display include a reproduction of two coins minted by Carlos V, flags, uniforms, medals, photographs and paintings donated by the Partido Carlista-EKA and a number of pieces from the Jaureguizar Foundation (Museum of Tabar).

. Ground floor: every year a long-duration temporary exhibition is organised from -Easter to December that focuses on specific aspects of Carlism or related to it. The first, "A history to be discovered. Materials for the study of Carlism", will inaugurate this area and will show elements that will disseminate the wealth of material in Navarre available for research into Carlism.

. Basement: an area dedicated to the building, the Governor's Palace. It contains photographs that throw light on its history and uses through the centuries and its recent rehabilitation.

This museum will be a good starting point to begin the Carlism Route, an itinerary that runs through the main scenarios of battles, negotiations and conspiracies that took place between Liberals and Carlists in Navarre. The visitor will be able to see the most important events in the history of the movement.
