Casa del Vínculo

The Casa del Vínculo is located at the foot of the beautiful Romanesque bridge with six arches from which Puente la Reina takes its name. The building, a fine noble house with a coat of arms on the façade, dates fron the 17th century. Its use has varied over the centuries: agricultural store, nursery school, and even a prison. It is now home to the town's Tourist Office and a curious exhibition of models of bridges or "hanging roads".

Initially designed as a store for wheat and other agricultural products, in the late 17th century and early 18th the Town Council extended it and raised its height to hold a nursery school and some other municipal offices. Interesting features of this renovation include the sculptures made in the corbels on the wood in the interior, decorated with plant motifs and images of wild beasts.

In the 17th century the Town Council refurbished part of the third floor as a prison and installed an isolation cell strengthened with a wooden door and lined with studded pieces of metal. In the 1970s it was converted into a municipal warehouse where the pasos (floats) for Easter processions were kept. Following extensive renovation in 2004, it has since been used for cultural and tourism purposes.
