Kingdom of Navarre. Land of diversity

The green monotony of the mountains in the north of Navarre is broken by the presence of enormous houses that are isolated from each other: the caseríos. They are not just houses, they make up a way of life based on agriculture and stockbreeding. In autumn, the locality of Arantza pays tribute to the people who live in them through the celebration of the Baserritaren eguna. The covered fronton is the scene of the exhibition and sale of products from the area: cheese, vegetables, chistorra (a spicy sausage)... all of them top quality and supplied directly from the farmhouses. Livestock also occupies the square. Before lunch the winner of the cheese competition is announced and a basket with local products is raffled.
